An electro Permanent electromagnet is an upgraded hybrid of electro magnet and Permanent electromagnet, in which the external magnetic field can be switched on or off by a pulse of electric current in a wire winding around part of the magnet, but requires no electricity to maintain the field. It’s composed of magnet materials, steel parts, coils and electronic control device.

How does an electro Permanent electromagnets work?

An Round Shape Permanent Electromagnet contains two magnetic materials, one magnetically hard (e.g. Nd-Fe-B) and one semi-hard (e.g. Alnico), capped at both ends with a magnetically soft material (e.g. Iron) and wrapped with a coil. A current pulse of one polarity magnetizes the materials together, increasing the external flow of magnetic flux. A current pulse of the opposite polarity reverses the magnetization of the semi-hard material, while leaving the hard material unchanged. This diverts some or all of the flux to circulate inside the device, reducing the external magnetic flux.

An Electromagnet Switche is a type of magnet in which the magnetic field is produced by an electric current. The magnetic field disappears when the current is turned off. Electromagnets usually consist of a large number of closely spaced turns of wire that create the magnetic field. The central principle governing electromagnetism or electromagnetic induction is Faraday’s law. We know that most of the circuits require a electromotive force or emf to drive current in the circuit but the source of emf is not always a battery. The flow of current is always associated with some magnetism. These two are always associated with each other.

The most important application of this is electromagnetic induction which is used to generate electricity.

We know that when number of magnetic field lines or magnetic density or more accurately magnetic flux is changed, an emf is generated. If the circuit is complete, this emf produces an electric current called as the induced current. This principle is used to generate electricity.
