- The contact area should exceed the magnet holding face.
XH4942 Permanent Holding Electromagnet
Hold without power. Release with 24V DC.
The Landa XH4942 provides magnetic holding force while unpowered. Applying 24V DC with the specified polarity reduces magnetic attraction for controlled release. Its compact cylindrical body integrates into industrial steel handling, positioning and fixture holding systems.

Key Benefits
How It Works
POWER OFF — HOLD: the permanent magnet maintains attraction without energizing the coil.
24V DC ON — RELEASE: energizing the coil reduces attraction. Residual holding force is ≤2 kgf at 24V DC. A suitable separation mechanism may be needed.
Control limits: 10% duty cycle; each ON period must be less than 2 seconds. The release coil is not intended for continuous energization.
Energy-Efficient Holding
No coil power is required during the unpowered holding stage. Energized power is 20W. For long holding periods and short release events, this avoids continuous coil power while holding. Actual energy use depends on the control cycle and external equipment.

Industrial Applications
The stated holding force is not a rated lifting capacity. Validate workpiece material, thickness, contact conditions, orientation, acceleration and usable load in the complete system.

Contact Conditions
The ≥40 kgf value applies at 0 mm air gap. Actual holding force depends on material and contact conditions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does XH4942 need power to keep holding?
No. The permanent magnet supplies attraction while the coil is unpowered.
Is attraction completely zero when powered?
No zero-force guarantee is stated. Residual holding force may be up to 2 kgf at 24V DC. Account for this in workpiece separation.
Can the release coil remain powered continuously?
No. Observe the 10% duty cycle and keep each ON time below 2 seconds.
How is it installed?
Use the single central rear M8 mounting thread, 12 mm deep. Connect red to positive and black to negative.
Does ≥40 kgf mean it can lift a 40 kg load?
Zero-gap holding force is not an approved lifting capacity. Verify usable loads for the complete application.
